Do you want a varied job in your role as a speech therapist? Do you also have an interest in technology? Then take the opportunity to work as a speech therapist with us!
The area of operation (VO) assistive devices is part of the administration of Psychiatry, habilitation, and assistive devices. The administration has over 4,500 employees and operates in several locations in Skåne. VO assistive devices is responsible for all assistive device areas funded by Region Skåne. This includes assistive devices for people with mobility, vision, hearing, communication, and cognitive impairments, medical treatment aids, orthopedic technical aids, and pharmaceutical-related products. In Skåne, the responsibility for assistive devices in the areas of mobility, communication, and cognition is divided between municipalities and Region Skåne, where the region is responsible for assistive devices for children and young people up to 20 years of age and the municipalities for individuals over 20 years old. Exceptions are specific assistive devices such as electric wheelchairs and several communication aids.
The assistive device operations are divided into two areas: the logistics/storage area and the reception area where patient-related activities are conducted. We have five assistive device receptions whose work is characterized by respectful treatment, positive engagement, close collaboration, and broad competence. Here, unit secretaries, assistive device consultants, and assistive device technicians work together with the patient in focus.
The assistive device reception Kommsyn is responsible for assistive device areas within communication and cognitive aids, computer-based visual aids, alternative telephony, and hearing technical aids. The unit also includes Datateket, where advice and support regarding developing apps, TV and computer games, and contact-controlled toys are provided.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We welcome a speech therapist to the assistive device reception Kommsyn and the team responsible for communication and cognitive aids. You will be part of a team with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and IT technicians.
As a speech therapist with us, you will work with communication aids in the areas of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) as well as reading and writing. You will work on behalf of prescribers. The work includes counseling, assistive device trials, follow-ups, and training for prescribers, patients, and networks. The patients you meet are both children and adults with very varied disabilities and diagnoses. You will alternate between working independently and being part of a team where you contribute your specific expertise as a speech therapist. Patient visits will take place at our receptions, at the prescribers' workplaces, or at the patients' homes. This means that travel is required in the job. Travel will be done using public transport or pool cars.
We use pulse and improvement boards as part of our Lean work, where deviations and improvements are handled continuously. All units within the assistive device operations use this working method and help each other to improve the operations based on this common structure.
The position is a fixed-term employment for one year.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who are applying are a licensed speech therapist with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare and have language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale. Travel is required in the job, and therefore a valid B driver's license is required. Previous clinical experience working with graphic AAC and computer-based aids is an advantage. Experience in habilitation and/or neurology is also an advantage. We consider it an asset if you have worked with reading and writing difficulties.
As a person, you are creative, curious, and enjoy taking on new challenges. We see it as a prerequisite that you appreciate meeting people and providing advice and support. You thrive on informing and educating others, and you have a genuine interest in technology. We are looking for someone who has a good ability to prioritize and plan their work tasks and collaborate with others, as well as the ability to handle many tasks simultaneously. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, independence, and flexibility.
